Career Building Tips

People learn valuable lessons every day

Some of these are inspiring enough to change your life. Getting your dream job and maintaining it requires some hard learned lessons as well.

You can’t just hope to be lucky and get ahead in your future. You need to have some prior experience or exposure. This experience can even be in the form of valuable lessons from your mentor or books. It can even be in the form of an informative article, just like this one.

Gearing you for your dream career, this article will hopefully instill some valuable wisdom in building your career & professional life.

1. Job interviews are a two-way channel of communication

Remember; you are not the only applicant that the company has. Ask the company employees as many questions as you can. It gives a good impression and shows you are serious about making their company a part of your life. After all, the company is also asking you questions to know if you will be a good fit for them.

2. No Mistakes? You’re doing something wrong!

No, really, if you haven’t made a mistake yet, you haven’t learned at all! Mistakes can be the gateways to knowledge that actually helps you grow with valuable lessons. Whatever you learn from your mistakes will, no doubt, impact you in a positive way. Don’t be afraid of failure and stumbling blocks. Treat mistakes like healthy competition and strict teachers.

3. A man is known, and grown, by the company he keeps!

The people around you will equally impact your success or failure. Surround yourself with friends and family who are supportive of your decisions and encourage you. They will give you the environment you need to optimize your potential.

4. Confidence is the key to most, if not all, locks

Confidence can make or break your life.
It is attractive, it is magnetic, and it shows that you have the skills and capacity to make it. A simple eye contact throughout the conversation shows you are on an equal footing, with something worthwhile to offer.

Don’t have confidence?

You can always work on it. Until then, as they say: fake it till you make it!

5. Networking, building bridges, making a career:

Different words, same meaning.

In the professional world, people talk. And they talk mostly about other people. The more you are talked about, in a positive light, the better for you. Make your impact on others and get in touch with them as often as you can. Make time for old friends and cultivate new ones. And above all, never bring personal matters into your professional life. Even if you hate someone to the core, treat him professionally in your job. This action will go miles in building your reputation as a hardworking, serious man or woman.

6. Make the decision, stick with it and remember time is never still!

Whenever it concerns you, involve yourself, make your own choice and stick with it. You WILL get more opportunities so always be prepared to make quick decisions and NOT stay sulking over wrong ones. All bad times pass!

There is always light at the end of the tunnel. Keep working hard and dream high. You'll find your dream job one day!
